Black Cherry Platter with a hand carved rim.
To get the effect on the rim I carved, scorched and oiled it.
The changing textures between the rim and the bowl make this a very pleasing bowl to look at.
The bowl is finished with multiple coats of a hand rubbed oil/urethane blend.
After the oil is left to cure for several weeks it is buffed on three separate buffing wheels to get the perfect sheen and feel.
The bowl measures 12″ wide and is 2″ tall.

The tree came from the Country Club of Charleston which was hit by lightning during the 2019 Women’s US Open golf tournament.
